Organisers have promised a top class Great Chepsaita Cross Country Run this year as the World Athletics Cross Country Championships Gold Tour event enters its third edition on December 6.
Speaking during the third edition launch at Chepkemel Dispensary Grounds in Turbo Sub County, Uasin Gishu County on Thursday, September 4, 2025, the Patron Farouk Kibet promised an even grander event this year following successful previous editions.
He added they are targeting to pull over 10,000 participants as the event continues to cement its status as a premier competition, following its elevation from bronze label status last September to a gold label event.
“By God’s grace this year will be bigger and better. My dream has always been to educate as many students as possible. Last year the Great Chepsaita Cross Country sponsored worth Ksh 16 million and this year we want to give more than Ksh 20 million scholarships”
Kibet further cautioned athletes to run clean race devoid of energy enhancing drugs, noting that the Anti-Doping Agency of Kenya (ADAK) will oversee testing during the race.
