Roysambu Residents Take to the Streets Amid Deteriorating Roads

Roysambu residents launched a fresh protest, demanding government intervention over worsening road conditions.

Anti-riot police were quickly sent to disperse the crowd, who fired tear gas as tensions escalated between demonstrators and law enforcement.

The protests followed when residents took to the streets, decrying the poor state of the roads, which were caused by heavy rains.

According to them, the flooding and inadequate drainage have affected them, bringing their daily activities and businesses to a standstill.

“Traffic congestion is worse, and the roads are dangerous. We’ve seen accidents, and even pedestrians, especially children, are struggling to navigate these flooded streets,” Martin Wamaitha, one of the shop owners, told Citizen Digital.

During the protests, the residents highlighted severe safety risks which are brought by the deteriorating infrastructure.

Motorists report more accidents due to hidden potholes filled with rainwater, while pedestrians, including school children, face difficulties steering flood streets.

Residents now demand better drainage systems and long-term plans for road rehabilitation.
