Ramba Boys High Students Protest Principal

Tension escalated at Ramba Boys High School in Siaya County after students demonstrated demanding the immediate transfer of the school principal.

The protests began around 6 p.m. as students burned the security house at the gate.

The students further forced themselves out of the institution and protested at a nearby market centre.

The learners marched through the nearby market while carrying twigs and chanting the principal’s name.

Among the frustrations which led to the protests was alleged poor leadership and mismanagement.

Several teachers tried to calm them down, but the students insisted on the transfer of the principals and promised not to stop the demonstrations till their demands were met.

This is the second time the students are protesting after the protests which took place on March 23rd, which forced the principal to send the students home due to destroyed properties in the school.

The learners also refused to go to class.

According to reports, the protest followed the demise of two students who died after a septic tank at the school collapsed.

The deceased were form four students who were among the learners standing at the septic tank when the accident occurred.
