Detectives from the Directorate of Criminal Investigations (DCI) have arrested Ken Kimathi Gichunuku, the prime suspect in the murder of Seth Nyakio, the daughter of Kirinyaga County nominated MCA Lucy Njeri.
In a statement issued on Saturday evening, December 13, the DCI said the suspect had gone into hiding in October 2024 after Nyakio’s body was found in Thika Town.
The agency reported that officers from the homicide unit, working jointly with detectives from Kisii South and Busia, traced and arrested Gichunuku following forensic-led investigations.

According to the DCI, the suspect was tracked to Busia town near the Kenya–Uganda border, where he had been working at a cereal distribution shop while evading arrest.
The suspect is currently in police custody and is undergoing processing ahead of arraignment in court.
Seth Nyakio was found dead on October 14, 2024, at a rented house in Biafra Estate, Thika Town, Kiambu County.
She had gone missing two days earlier, on October 12, after leaving her home in Kamakis, Kiambu County, to visit a friend in Thika.
According to her mother, Nyakio’s body showed visible injuries on the neck, indicating that she may have been strangled.
