Pressure Mounts as Kenya Moja MPs Demand Duale’s Exit

Members of Parliament allied to the Kenya Moja faction have recently demanded the immediate resignation of Health CS Aden Duale.

While addressing the media on August 27, the MPs accused CS Duale of conflict of interest, complacency and hoodwinking Kenyans.

Kitutu Chache MP Anthony Kibagendi alleged that the health boss is associated with the company that developed the Social Health Authority (SHA) system.

He termed SHA as a grand calculated scam, citing rushed implementation and lack of transparency.

Further, the Kenya Moja MPs demanded the resignation of SHA Chairperson Mohamed Abdi and SHA CEO Mercy Mwangangi over fraudulent payments.

This comes hours after SHA suspended 45 health facilities from providing services under the Social Health Insurance program.

The authority, through a gazette notice, announced that the affected facilities are prohibited from attending to SHA members.

Notably, while addressing the media on Monday, CS Duale dismissed claims circulating on social platforms that SHA has been paying ghost health facilities.

Duale clarified that the ministry is already aware of the issue through credible sources.
