President William Ruto has revoked the appointment of chairperson of the Kenyatta International Convection Centre (KICC) , Irungu Nyakera.
In a gazette notice dated Tuesday, April 1, 2025, the Head of State appointed Samuel Waweru Mwangi as the chairperson to replace Nyakera.
“In exercise of the powers conferred by section 43(1) (a) of the Tourism Act, as read together with section 51 (1) of the Interpretation and General Provisions Act, I William Samoei Ruto, President of the Republic of Kenya and Commander in Chief of the Defence Forces, Appoint Samuel Waweru Mwangi to be the chairperson of the Board of Directors of the Kenyatta International Convection Centre for 3 years effective 1st April 2025” part of the notice read.
Taking to his social media, Irungu Nyakera responded to the dismissal of his appointment.
“I feel special to be fired through a special issue; they could not wait for Friday”, he wrote.
In his latest remarks, Nyakera declared that he will not be attending Ruto’s Mount Kenya tour and would rather be engaged with school work at Oxford University.
He further urged the Mt. Kenya region to focus on development, which, according to him, comes from the Office of the President.
