Ugandan President Yoweri Museveni has confirmed the arrest of Kenyan activists Bob Njagi and Nicholas Oyoo, who were held in Uganda for a month.
Speaking on Saturday, November 8, Museveni said the two were apprehended following intelligence reports that linked them to activities with opposition leader Bobi Wine’s group.
He claimed Njagi and Oyoo had been serving as “experts in riots,” working with the opposition to plan and organize unrest.

The two activists went missing on October 1, 2025, after travelling to Uganda to show solidarity with Bobi Wine ahead of Uganda’s 2026 presidential elections.
Njagi and Oyoo were reportedly intercepted by four armed men, who surrounded them and forcibly placed them into a waiting vehicle.
The two activists were released on the night of Friday, November 7, and handed over to Kenya’s High Commissioner in Uganda, who arranged their travel to Busia, where they were received by County Commissioner Chaunga Mwachaunga.
In a statement, Foreign Affairs Principal Secretary Korir Sing’Oei praised the Kenyan mission in Kampala for their tireless efforts in locating and securing the release of the missing activists.
Upon arriving in Nairobi, Njagi stated that they had been detained by the Ugandan military and subjected to torture during their captivity.
