A postmortem conducted on Tuesday, May 5, has confirmed that Nairobi Hospital director Dr. Job Obwaka died of cardiac arrest.
According to family representative Joseph Ndungu, the autopsy findings established the cause of death, although additional examinations will still be undertaken as investigators continue to determine the full circumstances surrounding the incident.
Dr. Obwaka passed away on Friday, May 1, after collapsing at a residence in Milimani, Kitengela.

Details presented in court indicate that he had driven from Nairobi to Kitengela earlier that afternoon in his black Mercedes-Benz.
At around 1:05 p.m., he parked at OBC Mall, where he was picked up by Beatrice Wangari in a Volkswagen Tiguan before being driven to her home in the Milimani area.
The court further heard that the two had shared a meal before Dr. Obwaka retired to the master bedroom to rest, while Beatrice Wangari later joined him, and they are said to have become intimate.
Shortly after, the senior doctor reportedly collapsed.
A paramedic and driver who responded to the scene found him dressed in a white vest and black trousers, with his eyes closed, a weak pulse, and critically low oxygen levels.
The responders administered cardiopulmonary resuscitation (CPR) and oxygen before rushing him to The Nairobi Hospital, where he was pronounced dead on arrival.
The incident was reported at Kilimani Police Station at around 10 p.m., leading to the arrest of Beatrice Wangari.
Detectives from the Directorate of Criminal Investigations later conducted a search at Wangari’s residence, where they recovered several items, including plates, a spoon, a glass, assorted medication, a blanket, a bedcover, a wet shawl, and partially consumed alcohol bottles, among other belongings.
During proceedings at the Kibra High Court on Monday, May 4, Wangari’s lawyer Levi Munyeri stated that she had been in a romantic relationship with Dr. Obwaka and further indicated that the deceased’s family was aware of the relationship.
In the ruling, Deputy Registrar Akinyi declined Wangari’s application for release and instead allowed investigators to continue holding her at Kilimani Police Station for 10 working days to complete ongoing inquiries.
