Police Deployed at Jesus Winner Church in Roysambu Ahead of the Planned Protest

Heavy security personnel have been deployed outside Jesus Winner Ministry Church in Roysambu ahead of the planned protest set for Sunday, March 9.

Photos shared all over social media showed the GSU officers standing at the entry of the church with batons while others surrounded the church building.

This comes after a section of Kenyans vowed to storm the church to protest against President Ruto’s pledge to donate Ksh20 million to the church.

While attending a service at the church on Sunday, March 2, President Ruto pledged a personal donation of Ksh20 million to support the church’s expansion efforts.

The Head of State moreover committed to organizing a fundraiser with his associates to raise an extra Ksh 100 million for the church’s construction project.

The pledge sparked outrage among Kenyans, particularly Gen Z.

Many questioned the source of Ruto’s donation and went on to accuse Jesus Winner Ministry of misleading Kenyans ahead of the 2027 General Election.

Others organised an online campaign dubbed #OccupyJesusWinner which gained traction, with critics condemning the donation and vowing to occupy the church in protest.

However, on Thursday, the church clarified that it is yet to receive President Ruto’s Ksh20 million donation.

The church also noted that the President made the donation following a request by their pastor.

Pastor Mwai who is the founder of the church had also previously narrated the aftermath of the donation, revealing he was forced to dump a sim card he has been using for more than 15 years after receiving over 5000 abusive calls and SMS.
