Police Capture Key Robbery Suspect in Chiga After Tip-Off

The National Police Service has confirmed the arrest of a key suspect linked to a robbery with violence incident in Kisumu East Sub-County.

In a statement issued on Thursday, April 30, the police said the suspect was apprehended following a tip-off from members of the public, which triggered a swift and coordinated operation by officers on the ground.

The operation was carried out by officers from Chiga Police Station, who tracked the suspect to his residence in Kamrongo Village within Chiga Sub-Location.

He was arrested at his home without incident and taken into police custody.

During the arrest, officers recovered a red Honda 125 motorcycle, registration number KMGK 052P, which is believed to have been used in the commission of the robbery and as a getaway vehicle. 

The motorcycle has since been secured as an exhibit to aid in ongoing investigations.

The suspect is currently being held at the police station, where he is undergoing processing ahead of his arraignment in court. 

Authorities indicated that investigations are continuing as they seek to establish whether more individuals were involved in the incident.

The National Police Service also commended residents for their cooperation, noting that community support played a crucial role in the suspect’s arrest and the recovery of key evidence.
