Detectives from the Anti-Narcotics Unit (ANU) have arrested a suspected drug trafficker and recovered heroin valued at Ksh1.19 million in Nakuru County.
In a statement issued on Monday, January 14, the Directorate of Criminal Investigations (DCI) said the 42-year-old suspect, identified as Ephantus Kariuki Mwangi, was apprehended following an intelligence-led operation.
According to the DCI, the suspect was intercepted while riding a motorcycle, registration number KMEC 785W, and carrying luggage that aroused suspicion among the officers.

A subsequent search led to the discovery of the narcotics, resulting in his immediate arrest.
Detectives recovered 397 grams of heroin concealed in the suspect’s luggage, along with two syringes and needles, ten rolls of bhang, and three packets of cigarettes.
Investigators believe Kariuki was supplying drugs within Nakuru County and he remains in custody as police finalize investigations ahead of his court appearance.
The arrest comes days after a separate multi-agency operation in Diani that led to the arrest of Hellen Saru Mwajombo.
Officers first recovered two green gunny bags filled with cannabis before the suspect led them to her residence, where more narcotics were seized.
A white Nissan Note, registration number KDS 092K, suspected to have been used in the drug trade, was also impounded.
