Motorists and members of the public have been advised to expect traffic disruption in Nairobi’s CBD following the temporary closure of a key road.
In a statement on Wednesday, February 11, the Kenya Police Service announced that a section of City Hall Way, stretching from Parliament Roundabout to the Supreme Court Roundabout, has been closed to allow for a Nairobi County Government event and parade.
The advisory comes a day after the Kenya National Highways Authority (KeNHA) issued a notice ordering roadside traders operating along parts of the Thika Superhighway to vacate the road reserve.

The directive, issued on Monday, January 9, targets traders in Roysambu in both directions and those in Githurai on the Nairobi-bound side.
KeNHA directed traders operating in the affected areas to clear their goods from the road reserve within seven days of the notice being issued.
KeNHA said the clearance exercise is meant to create room for the construction of bus bays, which will enhance public transport operations and help ease congestion.
The authority noted that the designated bays will provide safer and more organised passenger pick-up and drop-off points along the highway.
KeNHA further explained that the project forms part of its broader road safety programme aimed at reducing accidents and ensuring smoother traffic flow on the affected sections.
