Pauline Njoroge Responds to Accusations Against Uhuru in ODM Dispute

Pauline Njoroge has rejected claims that former President Uhuru Kenyatta is responsible for the rising internal tensions within the ODM Party.

In a statement on Monday, December 29, Njoroge said the criticism against Uhuru is largely driven by his enduring popularity, including the warm reception he received during Raila Odinga’s funeral.

She clarified that the divisions within ODM are internal, stemming from differing opinions on engagement with the current government.

Some party leaders are comfortable cooperating with the broad-based government, while others, particularly the younger members, are less supportive and seek a different approach.

According to Njoroge, this internal disconnect, rather than external influence, is the true source of the party’s challenges.

Njoroge maintained that former President Uhuru Kenyatta is not seeking elective office and should not be depicted as a destabilising influence within ODM.

She described him as a respected and widely admired statesman, stressing that the party’s internal challenges are not driven by his actions.

The remarks come shortly after Njoroge announced her intention to contest for an elective county position in Nairobi during the 2027 general election.

She indicated that further details about the specific seat will be shared in due course.

Njoroge expressed concern over the current leadership’s lack of an effective, people-focused plan for Nairobi.

She said her decision to run is motivated by the desire to introduce a fresh, service-driven approach to governance and to contribute actively to a team capable of delivering tangible results for the city’s residents.
