Passaris Calls for Estates to Be Named in Honor of Johana Ng’eno

Nairobi County Woman Representative Esther Passaris has proposed that several estates in the country to be named in honour of the late Johana Ng’eno.

In her condolence message in the National Assembly on Tuesday, March 3, 2026, Passaris paid tributes MP.

Ng’eno also served as the first chairperson of the Departmental Committee on Housing, Urban Planning, and Public Works in the National Assembly.

“He was a man who brought the committee together, and I pray and hope that since he was the first chair for the housing committee and housing being a big agenda for this government, that we would have a few estates in this country that will be named Johana Ng’eno estates,” the women rep said.

“He really pushed every button to make sure that we as a committee, worked tirelessly to put the necessary laws in place, had public participation, and we oversaw the projects”, she added.

Passaris further recounted how they went across the entire country with him, looking at projects and demanding the highest quality and the highest deliverables.

The late MP Johana Ng’eno died in a tragic plane crash on Saturday, February 28, 2026, in Mosop, Nandi County.

According to reports, he was coming from Endebess, Trans-Nzoia County, where they had attended a traditional music event hosted by Hillary Juma Chemos.

The tragic crash also claimed the lives of Captain George Were (pilot), forest ranger Amos Kipngetich Rotich, photojournalist Nick Kosgey, teacher Robert Kipkoech Keter and a protocol officer from Narok County, Wycliffe Kiprotich Rono.

According to witnesses, the helicopter had an emergency landing in Nandi County due to bad weather, but after it attempted to take off again, it crashed and burst into flames.

According to latest reports, the five of them are set to be buried on Friday, March 6, 2026, with one them set to be buried the next day as per the family’s request.
