The Public Service Commission (PSC) has issued a notice to 205 who failed their proficiency examination held in September 2024.
In a Gazette notice dated March 7 2025, the commission listed the subjects each of the 205 clerical officers already working in the public service had failed.
“The following two hundred and five (205) candidates did not pass the Proficiency Examination for Clerical Officers held from September 23 to 26, 2024. They are expected to resit the subjects(s) indicated against their names” part of the statement read.
The most prominent elective subject which recorded the most failures was Human Resource Services across several ministries.

Other failed subjects included communication skills, supply services, records management and accounts.
The candidates were all chosen from different government ministries and State departments.
Among those who failed were candidates from the governments of Nakuru, Taita Taveta and Turkana.
Besides the 205, one male candidate’s results were canceled for exam irregularities.
However, 673 clerical officers passed exams.
“It is notified for general information that the following Six Hundred and Seventy-Three (673) candidates passed the Proficiency Examination for Clerical Officers held from 23rd to 26th September 2024. The Elective Subject is indicated against their name,” the statement read.
