Omar Marmoush Fires City into the FA Cup Semi-finals as Haaland Limped off

Omar Marmoush scored the winning goal as Manchester City came from behind to defeat Bournemouth 2-1, securing their place in the FA Cup semi-finals.

Erling Haaland missed a penalty earlier in the match but later netted the equalizer.

City reached the semi-finals of the FA Cup for a record seventh consecutive season with this victory on Sunday. However, the win came at a cost as Haaland left the field due to an ankle injury.

He had a penalty saved in the first half, and Bournemouth’s Evanilson initially put the Cherries in front. Haaland made up for the missed penalty by equalizing just four minutes into the second half before being forced off with injury.

His substitute, Omar Marmoush, scored the winner just two minutes after coming on, assisted again by the impressive Nico O’Reilly. This victory set up a semi-final clash against Nottingham Forest.

“Reaching the semi-finals seven times in a row is outstanding. This generation of players has accomplished this,” said City boss Pep Guardiola.

Nico O’Reilly’s outstanding performance, which included two assists—one to Haaland and another to Marmoush—earned him the Player of the Match title in this challenging contest, leaving Guardiola very impressed.

Pep Guardiola remarked, “Nico O’Reilly will definitely play in the FA Cup semi-final! His impact was just excellent.”
