ODM Speaks on 2027 Election Preparations for Aspirants

The Orange Democratic Movement has invited aspirants seeking to contest in the 2027 General Election on its ticket to submit their applications.

In a notice issued on Tuesday, May 12, the party’s National Elections Coordinating Committee (NECC) Chairperson Emily Awata stated that the exercise is being carried out in accordance with the party constitution and nomination rules governing internal elections.

The party announced that applications are open for various elective positions, including President, Governor, Senator, Woman Representative, Member of the National Assembly, and Member of the County Assembly (MCA).

ODM further emphasized that all aspirants must be registered voters to qualify for consideration in the nomination process ahead of the 2027 polls.

The party went on to direct interested aspirants to submit their applications through its online portal before June 30, 2026.

According to the party, the application exercise is being conducted in line with its internal constitution and nomination rules, covering a wide range of elective seats including President, Governor, Senator, Woman Representative, Member of Parliament, and Member of the County Assembly (MCA).

This development comes shortly after ODM Party leader Oburu Oginga cautioned members against endorsing candidates prematurely ahead of planned pre-election negotiations with the United Democratic Alliance.

He noted that such endorsements risked disrupting ongoing internal and inter-party discussions, emphasizing that any positions within a possible broad-based arrangement would be allocated after consultations.

Oburu also raised concerns over growing internal divisions within the party, warning that continued infighting among elected members could undermine unity and weaken ODM ahead of the 2027 polls.
