ODM Denies Viral Raila Message on Gen Z Protests

The Orange Democratic Movement (ODM) has dismissed a viral online post featuring their party leader, Raila Odinga, pleading with Gen Z to cancel planned protests.

In the fake statement that went viral on June 16, the party leader addressed Albert Ojwang’s death and urged everyone to give the authorities ample time to conduct investigations.

“The manner of Albert Ojwang’s death is being…let us allow the authorities ample time to investigate and reveal what truly happened. I have spoken to His Excellency President Ruto, and he has assured that he will get to the bottom of this matter”, part of the statement read.

“Ignore those who are exploiting Albert Ojwang’s death to incite Kenyans. Therefore, I urge Gen Z to refrain from the protests being planned today and remain at home”, the statement added.

The Party also flagged a post about DIG Eliud Lagat, which saw the former Prime Minister backing him up.

“DIG Eliud Lagat did nothing wrong. He only exercised his civic duty to make a legal complaint after he was defamed”, part of the statement read.

In the statement, Raila also called upon the President and the Inspector General of Police to reinstate him as no investigation has pointed out of him.
