The Orange Democratic Movement (ODM) has dismissed reports that it has reached an agreement with the United Democratic Alliance (UDA) on the sharing of elective positions across the Coast region ahead of the 2027 General Election.
In a notice on Monday, September 1, 2026, the ODM party flagged the viral notice as fake, saying the post did not originate from them.
It therefore urged the public to disregard the notice and rely on its official website and verified communication channels for information.
“Treat this as fake news,” the party stated.
The document in question, titled “Agreement with UDA in Coast Region,” claimed that the two parties agreed on which party will field candidates for governor, senator and women representative positions in all six Coast counties.
According to the purported agreement, ODM would field the governor in Mombasa and Kilifi, while UDA would take the governor position in Kwale, Tana River, Lamu and Taita Taveta.
It further assigned Senate and Women Representative positions between the two parties, including giving UDA all three positions in Tana River, Lamu and Taita Taveta
