OCS Talam Faces Detention Over Albert Ojwang’s Death

The Nairobi Central Police Station OCS, Samson Talam, has arrived at Milimani Law Courts over blogger Albert Ojwang’s murder.

The Independent Policing Oversight Authority (IPOA) has moved to court seeking orders to detain the OCS for 21 days.

IPOA said that the move would enable them to complete investigations into the murder.

Therefore, the authority requested that Talam be held at Lang’ata Police Station or any other station within the country, as investigations continued.

The OCS was trailed and arrested on Friday, June 13, 2025.

The officers alleged that Talam had switched off his mobile phone since Thursday amid the search for him.

However, his family denied the claims that he had gone missing, stating that he fully cooperated with the authorities and later surrendered himself voluntarily to the DCI.

They added that at no time had the OCS switched his phone, claiming that he was in touch with the police.

Ojwang was arrested in Homabay and transported to Nairobi, where he died eight hours after his detention on June 8.

His death has so far sparked concerns and widespread outrage in the country.
