Oburu Odinga Moves to Address Rising Family Disputes

ODM party Oburu Oginga has broken his silence on the rising tensions within the family.

The tensions surfaced on Friday, January 23, 2026, following President William Ruto’s appointment of Mama Ida Odinga as Kenya’s Ambassador to the United Nations Environment Programme (UNEP).

This he said during an interview where he reassured the public and family members that the reported divisions threatening family unity would be resolved.

He also emphasised that there was no need for alarm and expressed confidence that the upcoming discussions would restore harmony.

“There will be a family conversation, including a meeting planned for February 1, to engage relatives and young people with differing opinions, listen to their views, and assure them of love, care, support, and guidance as part of one family,” Oburu said.

“I affirm that I am there for them and up to the task, ready to offer advice and help. I assure them that this process continues as a family engagement focused on unity, understanding, and support”, he added.
