A man has been sentenced to 15 years in prison after being for manslaughter.
The convict is said to have killed a seven-year-old boy in Siaya County.
According to reports, the move followed a plea bargain that reduced an initial murder charge to manslaughter.
The incident occurred in December 2024 at Onono Village, where the accused allegedly laced avocados with poison, which the child later consumed.
Later on, the child was reported missing, and the body was found hidden in a crate in a nearby farm.
The court considered the circumstances, including the deliberate act that led to the child’s death.
The court also noted that the deceased’s death had caused significant emotional and psychological trauma to the family.
Further reports indicate that the accused was also alleged to have been planning to avenge by burning the house belonging to the deceased parents when released from jail.
The convict was therefore sentenced to 15 years imprisonment and not life improvement.
