Former Migori Governor Okoth Obado has defended himself regarding the case of the murder of the late university student Sharon Otieno.
The former Governor, on Wednesday, April 23, 2025, told the court that he had confessed to his wife about his affair with Sharon and was in the process of ending it before her death.
He added that he took responsibility for the child Sharon was expecting.
Obado revealed that his wife,, who had good intentions, had offered to give Sharon one of their houses which he declined, stating that he had no intention of marrying a second wife.
He further recounted how he found his wife, a journalist, and a man identified as XYZ in a boardroom.
His wife had already been briefed about the affair, but XYZ wanted to confirm the details.
Sharon, on the other hand, insisted on assistance in either Nairobi or Kisumu, but Obado refused and instead suggested purchasing land in Homabay and building a house worth Ksh 3 million.
According to Obado, Sharon had agreed to move into a rental house before her built house was complete, which she was comfortable with.
