Kirinyaga Worshippers Hospitalized After Eating Contaminated Meat

Over a hundred worshippers from the Anglican Church of Kenya (ACK) Mukandu-ini church were hospitalised after consuming contaminated beef.

According to reports, the churchgoers had eaten a contaminated meal during a church event where a bull was slaughtered for the Easter celebrations on Sunday, April 20.

The victims, therefore, started showing food poisoning symptoms such as diarrhoea, vomiting, headaches and severe joint pain.

They were rushed to both private and public facilities in Kagiyo and Kerugoya areas of the County, where they were admitted and being treated.

According to other worshippers, the bull was big and did not show any symptoms of illness.

Some other congregants suspected that the meat from the slaughtered bull could have been contaminated despite it being reportedly inspected before the feast.

The incident drew concern from health authorities who are closely monitoring the situation.

As the investigation continues, residents have been urged to remain alert to symptoms and seek treatment immediately.
