NTV Uganda Suspends Broadcast After Military Raid

NTV Uganda has shifted its operations to digital platforms after the military raided its offices on the early hours of Sunday, June 28, 2026.

In a notice, the Nation Media Group Uganda(NMG-U), said it will continue keeping audiences informed online even as its physical premises remain inaccessible.

The station confirmed the disruption, assuring its readers, viewers, and listeners that digital coverage will continue as the situation unfolds.

“The raid, carried out at about 1:00 am on Sunday, June 28, resulted in electricity disconnection and disruption of normal operations across our platforms on radio, TV and newspapers,” stated the Media Group.

“While our offices are closed, we will continue to keep you engaged and informed through our digital platforms”, it added.

According to reports, the raid happened at around 1:00 am, with armed security personnel descending on the group’s offices at Plots 29/35, 8th Street, Industrial Area at Namuwongo, Kampala.

A second NMG location at the Kampala Serena International Conference Center was also locked down during the same overnight operation.

Further reports indicate that electricity was cut off at both premises, bringing radio, TV, and newspaper operations to a sudden standstill.

The military operation was ordered by General Muhoozi Kainerugaba, Uganda’s Chief of Defense Forces and son of President Yoweri Museveni, who publicly announced the crackdown on social media.

Television stations NTV Uganda and Spark TV reportedly went dark, showing unavailable screens, while The Daily Monitor newspaper and radio stations 93.3 KFM and 90.4 Dembe FM also went completely silent.

According to Muhoozi, the stations will remain shut until they received his personal permission to reopen, stating that all negative stories about Uganda must first be cleared through his office.
