Nelson Havi Breaks Silence on Defection from UDA to DCP

Former Law Society of Kenya (LSK) President Nelson Havi has explained his decision to join the Democracy for the Citizens Party (DCP) after leaving the ruling United Democratic Alliance (UDA).

Speaking on Thursday, February 5, Havi revealed that following his resignation from UDA last year, he was approached by leaders from Rigathi Gachagua’s DCP.

According to Havi, he took time over the past few months to assess the political options available to him before settling on DCP as his preferred platform.

He also noted that his continued association with UDA had become increasingly difficult, a factor that eventually pushed him to quit the party.

The former LSK boss also revealed that he received advice from several people urging him not to remain in a party he claimed was dominated by arrogant individuals.

He explained that staying associated with UDA had become increasingly difficult, noting that public reactions toward the party made it uncomfortable for him to continue being linked to it.

Havi officially joined the DCP on Wednesday, February 4, and was welcomed by Gachagua at the party offices in Lavington, Nairobi.
