Natembeya Injured in Accident, Left With Fractured Leg

Trans Nzoia Governor George Natembeya is recovering after sustaining a fractured leg in an accident during the Christmas period.

Details surrounding the incident were not disclosed, but the injury prevented the governor from attending the memorial service of veteran politician Cyrus Jirongo, where he had been scheduled to address mourners.

An update on Natembeya’s condition and his absence was conveyed by Trans Nzoia County Lands, Housing, Physical Planning and Urban Development CECM Pius Gumo, who represented the governor at the event.

Gumo also noted that Natembeya recognised Jirongo as a leader whose legacy was defined by advocacy for ordinary citizens and encouraged others to emulate the same commitment to public service.

The incident comes weeks after Natembeya criticised the November 27 Malava by-election, accusing the government of using money and intimidation to influence voters.

He warned that such actions undermine democratic integrity, praised Malava residents for standing firm, and vowed to pursue lawful avenues to protect electoral rights in future polls.
