Nairobi City Water and Sewerage Company (NCWSC) has announced a 29-hour water supply interruption affecting several estates following the planned shutdown of the Karimenu Transmission pipeline.

In a public notice issued on Wednesday, November 4, 2026, the company said the shutdown would begin at 3am on Thursday, November 5, and end at 8am on Friday, November 6, 2026.

The interruption, which will last approximately 29 hours, will affect residents in Kasarani, Mwiki, Clay City, Ruai, Njiru and surrounding areas.

Other affected areas include Roysambu, Zimmerman, Kahawa Barracks and Kenyatta University (KU), alongside their neighbouring estates.

The notice further listed the entire Kayole, Komarock, Soweto and Matopeni areas among those expected to experience the water supply interruption.

“Nairobi City Water & Sewerage Company Ltd wishes to inform its customers of the shutdown of the Karimenu Transmission pipeline by Athi Water Works Development Agency (AWWDA) to facilitate critical tie-in works,” part of the notice read.

The company further urged residents in the affected areas to use available water sparingly as the shutdown takes place.
