Murkomen Claims 300 Police Officers Were Injured in June 25 Demos

Interior CS Kipchumba Murkomen has alleged that during yesterday’s demonstrations, 300 police officers were injured and several police stations were torched.

Speaking during a press briefing on June 26, Murkomen confirmed that out of the 400 people injured, 300 were police officers and 100 civilians.

The CS went on note that more than ten people were killed during the protests.

Murkomen moreover described the protests as a plot aimed at dethroning President William Ruto’s administration.

According to the CS, hired goons infiltrated the protests and deliberately attacked the police together with other critical security infrastructures, such as police stations.

He moreover disclosed that a total of five guns were stolen from the Dagoretti Police Post in Kiambu County, while four were burnt at the Gachui Police Post.

27 National and County Government Vehicles and 65 civilian vehicles, which were parked in various police stations were also destroyed according to the CS.

Murkomen further revealed that  critical government offices, including courts, national government and county offices were looted and burnt, with businesses worth billions of shillings in different parts of the country severely plundered.

The CS asserted that security agencies have kick-started investigations to establish who exactly facilitated the destruction of properties during the protests.
