Murder Weapon in MP Were Case Linked to Robbery Spree

Ballistics reports have confirmed that the two guns recovered from the residence of one of the suspects linked to the murder of MP Charles were used to kill the MP last week.

Speaking during a press briefing on Thursday, May 8, in the morning, the IG confirmed that the gun used in the murder was linked to several other crimes.

“Today, I stand before you with significant findings from comprehensive ballistic investigations regarding the tragic demise of Charles Were. The ballistic report we have received unequivocally links the Sarsilmaz pistol recovered from the residence of one of the suspects to the fatal shots that took his life”, the IG said.

According to the IG, the firearm used in the murder is implicated in the separate robbery offences across Nairobi and Kiambu counties, with the most recent crime happening on April 26.

He emphasised the National Police Service’s (NPS) commitment to solving the case and further urged Kenyans to provide information pertaining to the investigations in order to reach a quick solution.

So far, ten suspects have been arrested in connection with the murder of Were, which took place of April 30.
