Murang’a Governor Kang’ata Injured in Nairobi Incident

Governor Irungu Kang’ata has sustained injuries while attending an international meeting in Nairobi.

The incident happened on Wednesday, February 18, 2026.

According to reports, the governor’s injury will keep him away from physical office duties for approximately one month.

The incident occurred when the governor tripped during a Nutritional International meeting as stated by Murang’a County Government.

Murang’a County Government wishes to inform the public that H.E. Gov. Irungu Kang’ata was today attending a Nutritional International meeting in Nairobi when he unfortunately tripped and sustained an injury to his heel tendons,” the statement read.

“Following the medical assessment, the governor is currently receiving treatment and has been advised to remain away from physical office engagements for approximately one (1) month to allow for full recovery,” the statement added.

During his absence, Deputy Governor Stephen Munania will represent him in official functions that require physical presence.

The County Executive Committee Member for Finance, Prof. Kiari, will handle designated responsibilities as needed.

The ounty government confirmed that the governor will continue participating in official meetings virtually starting next week.

The county further expressed appreciation for the support and goodwill from residents, wishing the governor a quick recovery.
