The son of the late Kasipul MP Charles Ong’ondo Were, Boyd Were has disclosed he will be seeking to succeed his father.

In a statement on Friday, May 16, Byd noted that he plans to contest for the seat so he can continue the work his father was doing in the area before he was killed.

“Dear Kasipul Constituents, I humbly step forward to continue the development journey my father began. His vision for a better Kasipul remains alive in me, and I am committed to seeing every project he initiated completed. According to Boyd, if he is elected, he will focus more on projects around education, economic empowerment, and youth empowerment that were introduced by his late father.

He moreover called on residents of Kasipul to support his bid as the constituency prepares to conduct a by-election whose date is yet to be announced.

Boyd’s announcement came days after the burial of his late father who was brutally killed on the evening of April 30.

The late Charles Ong’ondo Were was ambushed and fatally shot in what authorities believe was a targeted hit.
