Several families are counting losses after a fire destroyed property of unknown value in Mukuru Fuata Nyayo Village, South B Ward, Nairobi County, early Thursday morning.
Witnesses say the blaze started at around 2am, causing extensive structural damage within the settlement.
The fire is believed to have begun in one building before rapidly spreading to adjacent structures in the early hours.

Residentsβ initial efforts to contain the flames were unsuccessful, prompting them to call for assistance from the Nairobi County government.
Firefighters from Nairobi City County, supported by the Rescue Services Team, arrived shortly after and managed to bring the blaze under control, although several structures had already been destroyed.
Images and videos shared online showed large plumes of smoke rising from multiple buildings as residents scrambled to salvage their belongings.
Additional footage captured helpless residents watching their homes burn as emergency crews worked to contain the inferno.
As of the time of reporting, authorities had not confirmed any fatalities or injuries linked to the incident.
