Tension gripped Samutet village in Kericho County on Thursday after a man was lynched by a mob moments after hacking his mother, a child, and his sister-in-law to death in a shocking attack that left residents in disbelief.
According to witnesses, the man launched a vicious assault on his family members, fatally cutting them with a sharp object before neighbors rushed to the scene.
Overcome with anger and shock, villagers pounced on him, beating him mercilessly until he succumbed to his injuries.

By the time authorities arrived, the man had already died at the hands of the enraged crowd.
The motive behind the brutal killings remains unclear, with locals saying he gave no explanation for his actions.
Police officers who responded to the incident managed to calm the tense situation and persuaded residents to disperse.
They later moved the bodies of the victims and the suspect to the morgue as investigations into the matter commenced.
Area residents described the attack as one of the most horrifying incidents to occur in the village in recent years, calling for swift investigations to establish what may have triggered the man to turn on his own family.
