Michael Olunga’s Goal Fails to Secure Al Duhail the Title

Michael Olunga scored the only goal in Al Duhail’s victory over Al Khor, but it was not enough to secure the title for his team.

With this goal, Olunga marked his 12th of the season, contributing to Al Duhail SC’s campaign, which saw them finish in second place with 50 points, just 2 points behind the eventual champions, Al Sadd.

The Harambee Stars captain ended the 2024/25 Qatar Stars League season with 12 goals and 2 assists from 19 matches.

Al Duhail needed Al Sadd to slip up to have a chance at the title, and they did their part by winning 1-0 against already-relegated Al Khor. Olunga scored the decisive goal in the 68th minute; however, it wasn’t enough for them to clinch the championship as they finished with 50 points, two points behind Al Sadd, who ended with 52 points.

Al Sadd secured their 18th Qatar Stars League title and their second consecutive championship with an emphatic 5-0 victory over Al Ahli in the final round of the 2024-25 season. This victory marks Al Sadd’s fourth Qatar Super League title in the last five years.
