Ex-Vihiga Deputy Governor Now Selling Firewood After Leaving Office

Former Vihiga Deputy Governor (DG) Caleb Amaswache has turned to selling firewood for survival.

The former DG shocked Kenyans by choosing to be a firewood vendor, which is different from the lavish lives Kenyan leaders live after finishing their tenure in the government in a heartfelt interview with Citizen TV.

Amaswache served as a deputy governor between 2013-2017 under Moses Akaranga where he had a tight security and exquisite vehicles.

He used to earn over Ksh600,000 in salary, but the revelation of his life has now turned him into a firewood seller where he can barely make Ksh200 per day.

Amaswache, therefore, appeals for financial help, claiming that his major challenge was raising capital.

This is to be able to expand his capital.

“I don’t have enough capital. I have a daughter who’s going to school, and I need Ksh200,000 to start. The capital I have, I have to split-sell part of it, and eat the other”, he said.

He added that people whom he helped rise to higher positions while he was still in leadership have forsaken him, ignoring his calls compared to the time when he was in office, and people treated him as a respectable person.

“I need a job. I’m asking His Excellency William Ruto to consider those who were once in government. We are all Kenyans, and the President should take care of all of us,” Amaswache further said.
