Law enforcement officers in Meru have recently arrested Lucky Mwenda, a man described by police as a serial impostor who had been posing as a police officer and terrorising residents of Imenti North Sub-County.
In a statement released by the Directorate of Criminal Investigation (DCI), Mwenda’s arrest was made possible through timely intelligence provided by members of the public, who alerted officers to his movements.
Acting on the information, authorities mounted an operation and intercepted him while he was riding a motorcycle without registration plates, which investigators believe he had been using as a getaway vehicle.

A search conducted at the scene led to the recovery of several items suspected to have been used in his activities.
These included a military-style jacket, a military knee pad, a military hat, a camel bag, and a dagger.
Police noted that the items were intended to enhance his appearance and intimidate unsuspecting members of the public while posing as a law enforcement officer.
Mwenda was taken into custody and is currently being processed as investigations continue.
Authorities say he will be arraigned in court once the necessary procedures are completed, as police intensify efforts to curb impersonation and related criminal activities in the area.
