Mbavu Destroyer Donates Maize Flour After Vurugu Fight Loss

Mbavu Destroyer has donated maize flour to a group of women in his community, shifting focus to those in need just days after his recent loss in the widely publicised Vurugu fight.

In a video shared on social media, the boxer is seen distributing the flour and clearly indicating that the donation was specifically intended for women.

The gesture comes shortly after Mbavu lost the Vurugu fight to his rival, Majembe.

The bout took place on Saturday night, April 4, at the Kasarani Indoor Arena.

Born Portifas Odipo, Majembe secured victory with a devastating body shot that sent Mbavu, whose real name is Ferdinand Omondi, sprawling.

Mbavu was unable to continue as medics rushed to his aid, and the referee promptly awarded 21-year-old Majembe a technical knockout, cementing his status as the night’s dominant fighter.

After the fight, both boxers walked away with substantial rewards.

Of the Ksh4 million donated by President Ruto for the match, Ksh1 million went to Majembe, while Mbavu Destroyer received a Ksh1 million consolation prize.

In addition, Majembe claimed a Ksh1 million winner’s purse from the event organizer, a Toyota Noah valued at about Ksh4 million, a Taro GP1 sport bike worth over Ksh385,000, a one-year gym membership, and a supply of supplements.

Despite the loss, Mbavu Destroyer also secured a bright future.

In addition to the Ksh1 million consolation prize from President Ruto, he leveraged the massive social media hype surrounding the fight to secure several brand endorsements, ensuring his financial success despite finishing second.

Through his community donations and career prospects, Mbavu Destroyer has shown that resilience and giving back can shine as brightly as victory in the ring.
