Mathare United Squandered a 1-0 Lead and Lost 2-1 to Gor Mahia

Gor Mahia dramatically came from a goal down to win 2-1 against Mathare United at Dandora Stadium in the FKF Premier League.

Gor Mahia recently unveiled their head coach, Sinisa Mihic, took to the touchline with a win in his match.

Kogalo almost took the lead in the 8th minute when Gedeon Bendeka netted but his goal was ruled out for an earlier offside.

Tables turned in the slum boys’ favour as captain Elly Asieche gifted them the home advantage as he scored what a goal with a header in the 15th minute.

Immediately after the goal, Mahia hurled instant attacks at Mathare United’s goal but their shot stopper Robert Mboya kept them in the game as he made two successive saves to deny Bendeka from close range.

Mathare United could not hold onto the lead past the 35th minute as Mahia kept hunting for a leveller until Alphonce Omija scored forcing the match into a 1-1 draw at halftime.

The second half started on a balanced scale with not so much scare from both teams.

In the 76th minute, Gor was awarded a penalty after the speedy winger, Samuel Kapen was brought down in the area.

Enock Morrison stepped up and scored to grant Gor Mahia the lead and the only goal that was needed to square the match and ensure Gor Mahia the three points.
