United Green Movement (UGM) co-party leader and former Chief Justice David Maraga is set to tour the United States for three weeks.
The former Chief Justice is expected to engage with Kenyans living abroad ahead of the 2027 General Election.
According to Maraga, the diaspora should be viewed as an important partner in Kenya’s development and democratic future, rather than merely a source of money sent home.
“Our Constitution recognizes the Diaspora as full partners in Kenya’s future, not just a source of remittances,” Maraga said.
He is expected to begin his three-week tour of the United States on September 17, 2026, during which he plans to meet Kenyans in different states and listen to their views on the country’s affairs.
“Starting September 17, I will be in the United States for three weeks to listen, share, and engage directly with Kenyans across Delaware, Texas, New York, and beyond,” Maraga added.
The tour is part of Maraga’s wider efforts to engage Kenyans at home and abroad ahead of the 2027 elections.
The UGM presidential flag bearer is expected to discuss issues of mutual interest with international leaders as he seeks to position his campaign within broader conversations on Kenya’s governance, democracy and development.
The tour will also provide Maraga with an opportunity to outline his political agenda to Kenyans abroad and receive their views as political parties and presidential candidates begin positioning themselves for the 2027 elections.
