The Motorist Association of Kenya has cautioned motorists using the Narok-Mai Mahiu road orts of violent robberies along the route.
In a notice on Tuesday, March 31, 2026, the association said that are criminals are targeting drivers along the Tulele-Ewuor Ekule stretch near the Pirnyiny area.
There, the criminals allegedly place stones on the climbing lanes to force vehicles to stop and ambush drivers.
According to the association, one driver was allegedly killed by the attackers, who are said to be armed with machetes and other sharp weapons, after attempting to remove the stones that were blocking the way.

“Attention to the Travellers! If you are planning to travel along the Narok–Mai Mahiu road, particularly between Ntulele and Ewuor Ekule near the area known as Pirnyiny, please exercise extreme caution,” the notice read.
“Reports indicate the presence of a criminal syndicate using dangerous tactics, including placing stones on climbing lanes to force vehicles to stop and create opportunities for robbery,” the notice added.
Travellers have therefore been encouraged to avoid the route at night and, if possible, travel in groups or coordinate with local authorities for safer passage.
