Legal Setback or Relief? Court Rules on Wamatangi’s Arrest, Prosecution

The High Court has issued orders regarding the arrest and prosecution of Kiambu Governor Kimani Wamatangi.

In a ruling by Justice Chacha Mwita, he ordered that the governor should not be arrested or charged while the current case is still ongoing.

“A conservatory order is hereby issued by refraining respondents from arresting and charging the petitioners based on the investigations undertaken in this matter until September 18, 2025,” the judge stated in his ruling.

The new court ruling allows Wamatangi to continue with his official duties until the court decides in September.

The governor has been under investigations over mismanagement of funds in the country.

The country officials during the probe into the matter dismissed the allegations as part of political campaign aimed at undermining Wamatangi’s administration.
