Kenyatta National Hospital (KNH) has asked patients seeking non-emergency services to consider going to other hospitals closer to them, as the facility is currently congested.
In a notice on Thursday, August 20, 2026, the hospital revealed it is experiencing increased patient volumes and congestion following strikes affecting health services in different counties.
Due to the increase in patients, the facility has experienced patient delays and long queues, making it difficult for some patients to be attended to.
“Kenyatta National Hospital (KNH) is experiencing increased patient volumes and congestion following industrial action affecting health services in various counties,” KNH stated.
“As a national referral hospital, KNH is receiving more patients who would ordinarily access services at county and other health facilities. This has resulted in longer waiting times and delays, particularly for non-emergency services,” it added.
Additionally, he appealed to those seeking non-emergency services to try finding them at other facilities rather than visiting KNH.
According to the hospital, this will help ease pressure and facilitate timely access to medical care to all patients despite a strike by some healthcare providers.
