Kindiki Declares Judge Removal as Constitutional Issue

Deputy President Kithure Kindiki has pushed away claims linking the Kenya Kwanza Administration to petition seeking removal of the high court judges.

In a statement released on X formerly known as Twitter, the Deputy President declared that removing of judge from office was a constitutional matter and not neither political nor ethic issue.

“Removal of judge from office is purely a constitutional matter and not a political or ethnic issue” he stated.

“Accusers and defenders of judges must use constitutional and legal arguments to state their positions rather than trivializing such a weighty legal matter by bringing in ethnicity into the equation. Who defends the judges who may be innocent but do not have ethnic godfathers? he added.

His remarks followed the former Deputy President’s Rigathi Gachagua’s comment on petition seeking to remove CJ Martha Koome from office.

Speaking at AIPCA St. Joseph’s church in Antubetwe-Kiongo Ward in Igember North, Meru County, the former DP demanded that CJ Martha Koome should be left to discharge her mandate.

“This woman (Koome) is being fought because she refused to a ‘yes’ man” the former DP said.

“If Marth Koome is pushed out I will call for protests” Gachagua further said.
