Businessman Joel Kibe has refuted claims of his involvement in the University of Nairobi council’s controversy over the appointment of Brian Ouma as the Acting Chief Operating Officer.
According to Kibe, the appointment that made top UON officials arrested and arraigned in court happened when he was out of the country.
The businessman shared a document as proof that on April 19, 2024, when the irregular appointment happened, he was out of the country and had left on April 12 for Tokyo, then returned on April 24.

Among those arrested and arraigned are University of Nairobi Council Prof. Amokuwa Anangwe, Daniel Brian Ouma and two other members of the council.
The four faced charges of abuse of office in the controversial hiring of Brian Ouma.
They denied the charges and were released on Ksh500,000 cash bail each just hours after the arrest.
