Kiambu County Officials Beaten Up While Enforcing Court Order

Chaos erupted in Thika on Sunday morning as goons engaged Kiambu County Government officials in running battles over a newly established market.

The goons attacked security personnel who were on deck to guard the new Ngoliba Trading Centre.

According to reports the goons were reportedly ferried to the market from a different location.

Reports further indicate that the goons were there to protect a contractor who was keen to triumph over a court order regarding the legal rights to construct the complex market.

The security personnel, who were at the market were overwhelmed by the goons, who hurled stones at them, forcing the officers to flee for safety.

Several officers sustained serious head injuries as a result of the attack, while one of the goons has since been cornered and was forced to speak about the attack in the wake of the chaos.

The new Ngoliba market has been marred by controversy ever since Thika Town MP Alice Ng’ang’a launched its construction in 2024.

Notably, there have been conflicting reports on who would oversee the project, with sections claiming it was the county government’s jurisdiction.

Despite tensions MP Alice Ng’ang’a has vowed to continue with development projects across her constituency, including Gatuanyaga, Kiganjo, Maguguni, and Landless.
