Kenya and Senegal have entered into a landmark bilateral agreement allowing citizens of both nations to travel without visa restrictions — a move aimed at deepening diplomatic and economic cooperation between the two countries.
The agreement was signed on Tuesday afternoon at State House, Nairobi, by Kenya’s Cabinet Secretary for Interior, Kipchumba Murkomen, and Senegal’s Minister of Foreign Affairs, Sheikh Niang.
President Ruto and visiting Senegalese President Bassirou Diomaye Faye witnessed the signing ceremony.

Under the new arrangement, holders of diplomatic and ordinary passports from both countries will be permitted to enter, stay, or transit through either nation without a visa for up to 90 days.
The move is expected to enhance cooperation in trade, tourism, and cultural exchange as the two nations seek to strengthen their bilateral relations.
President William Ruto noted that trade between Kenya and Senegal remains relatively low, despite the strong diplomatic ties between the two nations.
To boost economic cooperation, the two countries agreed to hold further discussions aimed at removing trade barriers and enhancing collaboration in areas such as transport and digital infrastructure.
The President also invited Senegal to share its experience in hosting major continental football tournaments, including the Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON), as Kenya prepares to co-host the 2027 edition alongside Uganda and Tanzania.
