Kenya Railways has cautioned members of the public against fraudulent platforms impersonating the corporation to sell fake Madaraka Express Passenger Service tickets.nuj mm
In a public notice, the railway operator said fake websites, social media pages and individuals were misleading customers into making payments through unofficial channels.
Additionally, passengers who attempted to book train services through these platforms have reported financial losses as a result of the fraudulent activities.
“Kenya Railways wishes to notify members of the public that fraudulent websites, social media pages and individuals are impersonating the Corporation and deceiving customers into making payments through fraudulent channels, resulting in financial loss,” the notice read.
The corporation advised passengers who have encountered train booking fraud to report the incidents through its official communication channels.
“If you have fallen victim to train booking fraud, please report the incident immediately by calling 0709907000 or 0709907555, or by emailing info@krc.co.ke,” the notice added.
Kenya Railways further said that it is working with relevant security agencies to investigate the fraudulent activities and identify those behind the scams.
