DCP Campaign Vehicle Damaged in Gilgil Vandalism Incident

A campaign truck belonging to the Democracy for Citizens Party (DCP) has been vandalised at Pembroke, Nakuru County, while en route to Gilgil.

In a statement by the DCP Economic Adviser Peter Mbae on Saturday, July 11, 2026, he claimed the vehicle was attacked by individuals he described as “state goons”.

“Our DCP truck was attacked and shot at by state goons at Pembroke on the way to Gilgil, suspected to be police officers in civilian clothes travelling in a Prado and a Subaru”, he said.

They are trying hard to provoke violence in line with their plan of postponing the by-election, but we are not taking the bait. The gang imported for this purpose will have to find something else to do,” Mbae added.

According to reports, several videos circulating on social media also showed the DCP-branded truck being pelted with stones by a group of people.

This comes days after the Independent Electoral and Boundaries Commission (IEBC) warned that the Ol Kalou by-election could be postponed or even cancelled if insecurity and breaches of the electoral code of conduct continue.

The commission cited reports of election-related violence, voter bribery and illegal night campaigns, warning that the commission could also disqualify candidates found culpable if the incidents persist.
