Kenya Pipeline Company Maintains Fuel Stocks Are Sufficient Despite Shortage Reports

Kenya Pipeline Company (KPC) has assured the public of adequate fuel supply amis concerns over reported shortages at petrol stations countrywide.

According to the company, its terminals across the country had sufficient stocks, and that the oil it currently holds is safe and meets all national and international standards.

“We wish to assure the public that there is sufficient fuel in all of our terminals and depots and that the products meet national and international quality standards as prescribed by relevant certification bodies,” statement from the KPC read.

The oil company revealed that the Kipevu Oil Storage terminal in Mombasa stocks 29,648 cubic metres of super petrol, 37,291 cubic metres of diesel, and 60,977 cubic metres of jet fuel.

Kenya Petroleum Refineries holds higher volumes, with 64,742 cubic metres of super petrol, 46,118 cubic metres of diesel, and 18,438 cubic metres of jet fuel.

Additionally, the Nairobi terminal, which directly serves the capital and surrounding counties, currently holds 50,024 cubic metres of super petrol, 55,245 cubic metres of diesel, and 1,317 cubic metres of jet fuel.

According to KPC, it operates 1,342-kilometre pipeline network linking the Port of Mombasa to inland depots in Nairobi, Nakuru, Eldoret, and Kisumu, forming the country’s primary fuel distribution artery from the coast to the interior.

The company has therefore maintained that it has enough fuel stock amid concerns from members of the public.

“The fuel stocks are sufficient to meet current and projected national demand, with continuous product movement and replenishment across all our terminals and depots,” KPC added.
